Jeromeenriquez (talk) 00:55, 12 May 2021 (UTC)International Federation of Pickleball moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, International Federation of Pickleball, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. International Federation of Pickleball
[edit]Hello. I see you recently added the phrase "...and the disputed Chinese island of Taiwan..." to the International Federation of Pickleball article. I had originally thought of including a comment to that effect, but for the purposes of the IFP article, I decided it wasn't appropriate. While China does dispute the legitimacy of Taiwan as a separate island nation, I don't see it as relevant to this article. Mentioning the dispute between China and Taiwan brings in an unnecessary political tone to the IFP article. I only decided to mention Hong Kong because it is not functioning as a separate national entity, and I don't believe anyone sees it as a separate national entity. What are your thoughts? OvertAnalyzer (talk) 20:41, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
- FYI, I created a userbox for Wikipedians who play pickleball. See Category:Wikipedian pickleball players for more info. OvertAnalyzer (talk) 22:33, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
- You make a good point. The PRC and the ROC peacefully coexist in the Olympics as separate entities, so it stands to reason they would do the same in pickleball. I think I will remove that revision. Taiwan is especially tricky when it comes to sports. As you may know, they're usually called Chinese Taipei for international purposes. I noticed when updating the List of pickleball organizations article that Taiwan's national pickleball association is named to that effect on their English website. However, it is actually named "中華民國匹克球協會" (Pickleball Association of the Republic of China) in Chinese. It's a very tricky subject.
- I'm glad to see another Wikipedian making and maintaining articles on pickleball. There are not many of us at the moment, and we could use all the help we can get. I added that userbox to my profile, and I look forward to a lot more collaboration with you in the future. Cheers. Cvscvs2 (talk) 00:54, 22 March 2022 (UTC)
Internation Federation of Pickleball schism
[edit]Cvscvs2: In case you were not already aware, I was informed today that the International Federation of Pickleball is experiencing an internal schism. Several of the founding members, including USA Pickleball, have withdrawn. That is why the membership count on their website now says 61 member countries. Since there are not any published sources on the subject, yet, I can't post any of the details in the Wikipedia article. The countries that withdrew might merge with the World Pickleball Federation, but that remains to be seen. OvertAnalyzer (talk) 15:23, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
The article Peter Clothier has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
BLP does not meet WP:ANYBIO
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. MrsSnoozyTurtle 02:21, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
